Exams for Discrete Mathematics, Further Discrete Mathematics and Introduction to Media Communication on 12th May 2008 (both Maths) and 14th May 2008. There's only 2 weeks left for mugging, and I can't say that I've done much. :(
I'm especially scared for the Maths papers... I'm not sure I understand all the topics, and I haven't really gone through everything. There's a lot to cover under 2 weeks, and I'm somewhat glad I don't have a full-time job at this period.
The last class ever for this semester was last Wednesday, Intro to Media Comm... Our usual lecturer was on maternity leave (she had just given birth some days before! Wish you and your new baby good health, Miss Julyn Kang!), and so our tutorial... Erm, tutor took over. All the past entries I've blogged about Media Comm has happened in the tutorial classes, and our tutor is the guy who gives out "Kit Kat awards". He mentioned, the week before, that he was going to announce the overall best student in the lecture, so that he can embarrass that person in front of everybody. Haha.
I figured it was going to be Jacqueline, for sure, as she was the only person who was consistently and consecutively scoring one of the top 3 best marks for both assignment 1 and assignment 2. And I was right. Congratulations Jacqueline! Woot!
We had all just came back from our short break and our tutor started out saying something along the lines of, "I always award those who did well in assignments ('Kit Kat award!,' someone from the back of the lecture theater said), in my tutorial class, and this time, I'm awarding the top cookie of my tutorial group. There are two, this time. Usually there's only one."
He opens up a Powerpoint slideshow and announced, "Jacqueline and Zul." And he handed us each a tin of butter cookies. I was like, "Erm, thanks a lot."
I didn't manage to snap a photo of the slide he put up, though... And I almost went up to him at the end of the lesson to ask that he showed the slide again, just so I could take a picture of it... But I didn't 'cause I didn't want to look so narcissistic. Hahhaa.
And no, blogging about it does not make me look narcissistic at all. :D
After the class was over, when I was in the bus towards Bukit Panjang, I asked a few of my classmates who also live in Woodlands if they wanted to start a study group for the subject. We agreed to meet on Saturday at 2 pm at Republic Polytechnic for our first study session.
Why Republic Polytechnic? If you live in Woodlands, please let me know if you know of any place conducive for studying and discussion. There's none, as far as I know, and the 5 or so people who live in Woodlands whom I've asked agreed. Study rooms used to be open in nearby community centres, but they've been closed since, for some reason. Community centres are for the community, aren't they? Then why the hell did they close the study rooms for the people in the community? -.-"
I'd go and find out if I was not so bogged down with all this studying that I have to do... Plus, I'm lazy to find out. :P
Republic Polytechnic is a great place to study, it turns out. There're so many study areas and they're air-conditioned! Woot. Haha. Me and another guy had a hard time looking for a toilet though... We found 2 toilets which were locked... Okay, yah, so we were there on a Saturday, but what are they afraid of getting stolen in the toilets? Or are they afraid of sexual activities going on there? Then why lock only those 2 toilets and not the rest? After walking around a bit more, We found another toilet, but it was under renovation... -.-" And then, on our way back to the study area, we finally found an open toilet nearby, which we hadn't noticed before. But of course. *Rolls eyes*
I thought the study session went great and was quite productive, even if there were only the original 4 of us who turned up in the end... I had mass-e-mailed my tutorial group, asking if anybody else wanted to join us, and 4 people replied affirmative, but none of those 4 turned up. Oh well. Maybe next session.
I had somewhat of an ulterior motive (nothing perverse, honest) with the mass-e-mail, as well... But... Oh well.
More mugging ensues. Hopefully.
By the way, happy belated birthday Suhaila! :D
