Hari Raya 2008 & Sarinah's Wedding Preview Album
Let's take a break from all the dissatisfactions, shall we? Yes... Yes, we shall. :D
First things first, Selamat Hari Raya to everybody! And happy belated children's day too.
My body clock's still all screwed up to the point where I tossed and turn for several hours on first day Raya's morning and couldn't sleep. Finally I just gave up on trying to sleep. Haha. So, the whole day, I was functioning on no sleep, and was feeling a bit feverish, after catching several viruses from several different people. My whole family, sans my mom, is sick too. What a good start for the day! Woot woot!
First day of Raya was somewhat uneventful, compared to last year's Raya, what with all the commotion at the cemetery. This year, we decided to visit the deceased, maybe, this coming Sunday (I have class on Saturday), which probably isn't such a great idea either. I'm sure the situation will be almost as bad as on first day of Raya. Meh.
Anyway, first stop was dad's eldest brother, Pak Long's place, after the usual bout of asking for forgiveness from the parents. Mom's always a riot at this point! She can never ask for forgiveness from Dad properly without cracking up! Every year! Hahaha. My family is sooooo weird. :P
Stop laughing and moving your head so much Mom! Haha.
At Pak Long's place, I was looking for a place to sit when I saw a chair by itself near the front door, so I thought I'd grab it. So I did. I was moving it nearer to the family when it basically just fell apart from my hands. I was like, "Erm, I didn't do that, did I?" Wahahha.
Guess I should've known it was set aside for a reason! :P One of my cousins (I forgot which!) commented, "Lucky you didn't sit on it!" If I did, I think a different picture would be up here, instead of the chair only. Hohoho.
Originally I was supposed to pass Sarinah's whole wedding album(s) on Hari Raya, but I couldn't complete all 500++ photographs on time, so a few weeks before Raya, I SMS-ed her and suggested just a preview album first, so that at least she has something to show her friends and relatives during Hari Raya, and she agreed. We met up a week later, she chose 50 photographs, and I worked on those first. I gave the preview album to her and her husband at Pak Long's place (Sarinah's one of Pak Long's 6 daughters) on the first day of Raya.
Here are some of the photographs from the preview album, which I didn't include in the sneak preview post of Sarinah's wedding before.
This was the photograph I used for the album cover. I like this picture so much! Which is why I kind of regret using it for the preview album cover... 'Cause... Now what am I going to use for the actual album's cover?! Haha. Nevermind... I'll find something else. :)
Here's one of several photographs taken by our up and coming super-photographer, Koh Weiling, that was included in the preview album. :D Is she cute or what! (Erm, I'm talking about the baby, not the photographer. :P)
That's my younger bro with Sarinah.
The couple after the groom had just arrived. Look how demure-looking Sarinah is! Haha. :P
I really like how this family portrait turned out. I'm planning to blow this up for the actual album. :)
From left to right, Syira's mom, Syira's younger bro, Syira herself, my younger bro, Salmi (Sarinah's younger sis), and seated is of course the bride. :D
Sarinah and the super-kawaii make-up artist! ^^
The bride with my half-sister and her 2 kids, Rezki and Razik (being held). My sister loved Sarinah's outfits. :)
One of the photographs that I like. I like the voyeuristic look of it, and the candidness, behind-the-scenes look of it all. Heh.
Last photograph I'll be posting from the preview album. My younger bro singing a duet with Salmi. There's a video of this which I'm trying to get a hold of. When/if I do, I'll probably post it up! Hahahha.
I feel really bad that I didn't manage to complete the whole album, but it really takes a lot more effort that I had originally thought. And yes, Amir, plus, I'm OCD and somewhat a perfectionist. >< Stupid combo. I thought it would just take me a few months, but it's been over 2.5 months and I've only completed editing 140 photographs out of the 570 filtered from the 1443 taken. I'm planning to filter down a bit more for the album... It doesn't really make sense to edit 570 photographs! Plus, there have been time when assignments took priority and that took away a few weeks of just plain ignoring the photographs. Add on the laziness and the just-don't-feel-like-it moments, that's a lot of time taken away from editing them pics.
It can get reallllllly boring editing picture after picture after picture, trust me. Doing this preview album made me learn about some things that I feel isn't right with the photographs though, so that's always good, when I learn something. :)
Ok, back to the first day of Hari Raya. Stayed at Pak Long's place for a bit. Chatted with the cousins.
That's Salmi with Hakim, remember him? He was the kid with the long hair (whom some people thought was a girl)! Here's a reminder :
After Pak Long's house, we headed towards Mom's eldest sister's house, where after about 15 minutes, I fell asleep on one of the best chairs I've ever sat on (or maybe I just felt that way due the lack of sleep). Apparently it costs about a hundred bucks and is from Ikea. Will keep that in mind. :D Both my brothers fell asleep too, for some reason. It was barely 2:30 pm! I hadn't slept yet, but what were their reasons? :P
Didn't take a single picture there even though my cousin and sister were there with their children. Totally knocked out. Haha.
After the 2 places, we headed back home 'cause the family tradition is to only go to the eldest places on first day of Raya. Once home, I showered and promptly knocked myself out until about 11 pm, where I realised that I was feeling even more feverish, and I had a headache, cough and flu. Bah! Just great! What a way to end the first day of Raya!
I tried sleeping again at about 5 am, but couldn't. Tossed and turned and coughed until I fell asleep at about 9 am. Kept waking up and coughing. =_=""" I finally managed to get into a deep sleep sometime in the afternoon and then only woke up at about 6 pm. The whole day gone, just like that!
I wanted to go see a dentist too, just now. My gum has swollen over my left bottom wisdom tooth, and I think it's time to get the tooth extracted. I wonder if there's an infection due to that which is causing my fever and lower immune system. :( There has been some discomfort around the wisdom tooth area too, so after reading up a bit on wisdom teeth and the problems that come with them, it does seem like I have a gum infection! Arghhh!
The last time I had a wisdom tooth removed was during Polytechnic days during my exam and project period, and it hurt like crazyyyyyyy. I had fever for 2 days! Re-reading that entry reminded me that I was supposed to remove the other wisdom tooth not long after that one was removed. Erm. Guess I forgot. Haha.
Assignment period is now, and project + exam period is coming up soon. I better remove the problematic wisdom tooth, otherwise deja vu! Later today, in fact, I hope. Guess I better sleep now!
A picture of me since there's none of myself in this post. Haha. Taken by my younger brother's very shaky hands. :D
