Remember the old photographs that I retouched a few months ago? Well, I don't think I did such a superb job on them in retrospect, but my relatives loved them. And the aunt who requested the retouching had another photograph for me to edit.
I was told who these people are, but I can't recall at the moment. Heh. I think the picture is not as old as the 70-year-old photo of my grandma that I worked on before, but I'm guessing maybe around 50 years old. (I checked with my mom and found out that the man and woman in the photo were actually my great-grandparents! That makes the photograph much much older than the previous one I worked with. Wow... Good condition!) It's actually quite well-kept, so it wasn't so hard to work with as compared to the previous one.
The first pass I did. Removed the strong yellow colour cast and some of the more obvious marks. I guessed that this photograph must've been shot at a studio of some sorts... And if so, I'm wondering why the guy on the right of the photo is overexposed while the others are okay. Only half of his moustache can be seen! o.O
Removed most of the obvious spots and scratches from the picture. Recreated the lady's neck. Added subtle shadows here and there. Got really bothered with the 2 different exposures of the photograph, so...
Made the photograph look more even... Nothing I could do about the blown right cheek of the man, though. The backdrop looks like it's one piece now, instead of 2 different cloths sewn together... I also lightened the woman's face slightly and desaturated the photograph here.
Removed the wavy paper effect of the photograph, recreated the left side of the man's face, brightened up the white parts of the clothes a bit, fixed the baby's hair, darkened the backdrop a little bit more, and applied the Perfect Skin effect on all 3 of them.
What do you think eh? I think I did a better job for this photograph compared to the previous ones. Most probably because this photograph was better in condition and I've had experience from the previous work. Haha.
For fun, here's an animated version of the photographs above.
I've actually got maybe 2 more entries to blog about, but I just haven't gotten around to typing them out. Come back soon! :)
