Botanic Gardens Lunch Outing
Friday was fun! The day started out slow, but it got better and better.
Was to meet Mr Podah at Jurong East at 10:30 am, but I, for god knows what reason... Reached at 9:50 am. Like, wtf? What's going on? Is the world ending?!
What is a guy to do at 10 am in Jurong East Entertainment Centre on a Friday? I walked around a bit... Ooh, there's the new Royals stall that I read about... Ooh, one of Beowulf's poster look like a Lara Croft pose... Ooh, arcade! Ooh, bored! Haha. So, I went to McDonald's to have a Big Breakfast. :P
I took my time to eat and look around at people... Listened to how many times the McD staff ask "Are you a member?" :P and finished my meal. And Mr Podah reached slightly earlier than our planned timing. Thank god! Anyway, long story short, we went to deliver the products and we went our separate ways. With the stickers he wanted to pass me still in his car. Oops. Haha.
Met up with A.A and Jr and headed to Singapore Botanic Gardens for lunch, to have the grilled chicken rice that I blogged about. Wahahaha. The meal went so fast that no pictures were taken. It was gooooood. I didn't like the taste of the chilli paste though.
Another reason for the lunch outing was to take a look at Jr's brand new Copen. I'm not a car enthusiast, and I don't get what's the big deal about rims and whatever whatever, but the car was quite nice looking, albeit a bit too small. :P
Jr drove me in his Copen to some place A.A was leading us to, and it was quite a nice ride. The windshield is a bit too low for my liking, but I guess I'm just not the experienced driver Jr is. :P Anyway, pictures!
The place A.A lead us to was... Erm, I have no idea where or what it was, but I think there were several pubs around the area. Ok, that's about all I know. :P
But before the pictures of the car, there was this faux-waterfall-pond thingie there...
And inside that pond...
A.A test drove the Copen for like 2 minutes and then we went to shoot the car. Haha.
And one pic of A.A's Suzuki Swift. :P
After the 45 minutes of car-whoring :P, Jr went back to work. And A.A and I decided to throw some of our money to Sim Lim Square. :D He bought some... Erm, what was it? Structured Cat-5e cables? With some banana heads??? Omg, he's more of a geek than I am! A different kinda geek, anyway. The stuff were for his audio obsession, of which I don't understand one bit.
And me? What did I splurge on? :D :D :D
I am tempted to type, "I'll tell you in my next post." But I'm all about instant gratification, baby! :P
I bought a Wacom Graphire 4 graphics tablet! Woohooo!!! You might remember that it's number one on my Wishlist 2007 blog entry? I'm never one to wait for people to get me the things that I want, so I went and bought it myself. Hehe.
I've not really played much with it yet, but the thing that got me off-guard is how not-easy it was to use it. Hahahaha. It's not really difficult, but there's definitely a slightly-steep learning curve in using the graphics tablet. The documentation made a good point about how users using a mouse for the first time have trouble getting used to it, and I remembered I did too, years back. I'm not giving up on the graphics tablet just yet, especially since I paid S$155 for this Wacom 4x5" graphics tablet. Hehe. It's the smallest of the graphics tablet lot, and it was the cheapest that I found too.
This particular set came with no-frills. No nice-looking box either! It looked rather OEM, and it came with the 512 levels (not 1024 as the shopkeeper claimed - the ass!) pressure-sensitive tablet, a pen, a pen stand, a quick-start guide and a CD of drivers, trial softwares and the such. No mouse, which I don't need anyway, and no transparent plastic overlay that you can use to slot in pictures to trace out. I went and bought some overhead projector transparencies and I'm gonna DIY myself that thing though. Heh. It does have the "transparent frame" stated in the website I linked in the previous paragraph, but that's more for decoration purposes (they say you can add a photo under the frame to decorate it... -.-" No thanks) and protection of the actual tablet.
I think I've had enough with glossy products. I mean, I know they're super pretty and everything, but all the super visible fingerprints will totally make them hideous in the long run. I've had this Graphire 4 for a total of 2 days, and I've handled it probably a total of 5 hours, and the smudges are terrible! It was so difficult to wipe them off and when I shot the above photographs, I had to edit out the smudges which took like an hour. My point is... I think I shall swear off glossy products. :P
Speaking of editing out stuff... I shall be publishing a new tutorial at MrMalique.com real soon. Watch out for it! :D
