Sarinah's Wedding Sneak Previews

What a week! Was pretty sick as mentioned in the first paragraph of the previous entry, and then I went to fail my IPPT, after which, I was the official photographer for my cousin Sarinah's wedding! First time ever for me to shoot such a high-profile event, and needless to say, I was nervous. All went pretty well though! :D

I rented the equipment above from Kenny again, who is now part of The Camera Rental Centre. Once again, I'm not being paid to promote him, I'm just recommending a good service. Haha. (Seriously... No one in the right mind would ask me to write paid ad posts for them. I don't do lip service. :P)

The equipment I rented was similar to the ones rented for Sarinah's engagement ceremony :

  1. Nikon D80 DSLR camera

  2. Nikkor 17-55mm f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S DX lens

  3. Nikon Speedlite SB-800 flash

  4. Sigma EF-500 DG Super flash

  5. Included free-to-use : extra battery, battery grip, Lowepro bag, charger, 2GB SD card

I rented the Sigma flash for my guest assistant photographer (GAP, yes, hehe), and I rented the 17-55mm lens after a very longggggg thought. I didn't want to bother changing lenses at such an event, but I wanted some zoom range... That was the reason I rented the 24-120mm lens for the previous engagement ceremony. This time around, I wanted to go for a better lens that can give me a constant f/2.8 aperture for that nice bokeh and shallow depth of field, while also giving me some play with the zoom. The 17-55mm lens gave an equivalent of about 3.2x zoom, and that turned out good enough for what I needed for the wedding shoot. :)

The geeky details aside, time for the photographs! I'll be posting just a sneak peek here since I haven't edited 99.3762993762993762993762993763% (accurate number! I calculated! Hahahhaha!) of the photographs I took. Haven't even filtered down the amount of pictures from the 1443 I have over the span of the 2.5 days event. I'll be mixing all the photographs up from the whole event in this entry. More will be posted in a couple of months (minimum) when I'm done editing everything. Heh.

I believe this is the ring from the bride to the groom... When Sarinah visits this blog, she can correct me if I'm wrong. Haha. :P

This wasn't a posed shot! I managed to snap this just as the groom was putting the ring on the bride's finger! So happy, can?! Hahaha. I have a few shots after this one which were posed since the other photographers didn't managed to get this shot.

This was shot at the night of the first day. I like this picture very much. I like how the fall off of the lights create a vignette-like look (which was not faked in Photoshop like I always do! Hahaha!).

Dome covered food trays, lined up in a row, reflecting lights... This was calling for me to shoot them. So I did. Why? I'm not sure... But I like the look. :D

A look at the bride and groom! Purposely shot à la paparazzi. :)

And speaking of paparazzi, here's a shot of my GAP! Her shirt reads "Camera. By Be True. I'm paparazzi. For photographers who take candid." How cool is thatttt! I want a shirt like that!

So, who is this mysterious assistant photographer?! Isn't it time I reveal the answer? But first, another shot of her!

Who is that crazy person lying on the dais's extended platform to take a photograph?! Who would be so siao on?! (Erm, shhh, don't tell them you have photos of me on the floor too!)

My guest assistant photographer (GAP) was...

Miss Koh Weiling! :D

Congratulations to Mr Malique for guessing it right via MSN. If she looks somewhat familiar to you (or not), she was trannified previously for her art project! Hahahaha.

A few weeks ago, I was telling her about the wedding shoot and I asked her if she wanted to join me, and she agreed! And regretted, a day before the shoot, 'cause she claimed it was stressful! Hahaha. Haven't even started shooting and the stress was piling. I know the feeling! :)

But she did join me on one of the days for the shoot, and she was superb. :) I foresee myself using quite a number of the photographs she shot in the final wedding album. :D

And it was great how she got along famously with everyone! Especially the kids! And I found it cool how she was joking around with Sarinah and her friends like they've known each other forever. That was nice! She made the shoot much more fun. Good job, Weiling! :D

Alright, parting shot below! The photographers and the couple.

I enjoyed myself thoroughly during the 2.5 days of the event... Amidst the stress and the tiredness, it was actually quite fun. That said... Erm, I don't see myself doing wedding photography again anytime soon. o.O

Too damned tiring! Hahaha!
